The Lockheed L1011 was Lockheeds unsucessful atempt to join into the comercial airline market. They did not suceed do to the fact that it was released during the same year as the Douglas DC-10 which was it's biggest compeitor. Frankly the DC-10 was a better plane and Douglas had the experience selling planes to airlines that Lockheed was not farmiliar with. The L-1011-500 (the newest version) holds about 250 passangers in two classes. It can take them about 5,300 nautical miles. Major customers imcluded TWA, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Delta, BWIA Caribbean (above ), ANA, Cathay Pacific and British Airways.
